A west-facing plot gets the evening sun on its front. Vastu is comfortable with it when the door is placed well and the east is kept open at the back.

The main door goes in the west wall's middle portion, towards its north-west half — not in the south-west corner. Master bedroom in the south-west, kitchen in the south-east at the rear, and the pooja in the north-east, away from the road.
North is up. The road side is marked; the room in each zone is the one Vastu places there first.

Keep the centre of the house — the Brahmasthan — open: a hall, a courtyard or a skylight, never a column, a toilet or a staircase.
With indicative setbacks of 15 ft in front, 8 ft at the rear and 4 ft on each side, the house can be about 42 × 57 ft — 2,394 sq ft a floor. That is a comfortable 4+ BHK on the ground floor; with a first floor, a 4+ BHK with a staircase in the south or west. Setbacks, floor area ratio and height limits come from your local development authority or municipality — check them before you build.
A deep chhajja or a pergola shades the west front from the afternoon sun; the north-east rear corner keeps the water and the open lawn. Vastu keeps the north and east low and open — lawn, a tulsi plant near the door, water in the north-east — and puts weight in the south and west: palms or tall trees along that boundary, the overhead tank in the south-west. With typical setbacks the buildable footprint is about 2,394 sq ft per floor — roughly a 4+ BHK on the ground floor, or a 4+ BHK across ground and first floor. Your city's bye-laws decide the exact setbacks.
In the south-east (Agni), with the cook facing east; the north-west is the accepted alternative. Never in the north-east.
